As of February 2014
Several years ago, I was diagnosed with APAS or Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome. It came as a shock as I have never heard of this condition before.
Many obstetricians only consider the possibility for reproductive-immuno disorders after two failed pregnancies. Had I known that they existed, I would have had myself tested during my first miscarriage.
I learned about APAS from reading many literature. To my surprise, my brother-in-law even produced this segment a long time ago when he was still with the Probe Team. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that this would be relevant in my life but yeah, things happen and you just deal with it.
Dealing with APAS is not easy.
Spreading awareness for this disorder can save many infant lives as well as sanity of mothers who are often taunted that they do not take care of their babies enough to successfully bring them out to the world.
I hope that this somehow educates many women like me who are still at a loss about APAS and hopefully, people around them as well. We all need your support and understanding during these times.
Love,
