Aromatherapy on the Go: My Top 4 Essential Oils for Traveling

Traveling is something lot (or all, amirite?!) of us love buuuut it comes with its own set of challenges.

Whether it’s motion sickness that turns a journey sour, unexpected bug bites that itch and irritate, or the sheer exhaustion from touring around, these little hiccups can really put a damper on your adventure.

Today, I will share with you my top five (5) essential oils I prepare for our travels:

Peppermint: The Motion Sickness Miracle and More

Let’s start with the journey itself.

Whether you’re traveling by car, boat, or plane, motion sickness can be a real party pooper, especially for the little ones. Peppermint essential oil is your go-to here. I would put 10 drops in an inhaler; it’s light and handy that you can just slip it inside your bag.

It’s also good for exhaustion, minor aches and pains, and congestion.

Ginger: The Stomach Soother

For those moments when your stomach decides to go on a rollercoaster ride of its own, ginger essential oil can be a lifesaver. Bring a diluted roller blend that you can rub on the belly to calm those waves.

It’s also a good warming oil (blend with lavender) to help with circulation whenever you have achy feels after a long day’s walk.

Lavender: The Portable Relaxation Station

Lavender is, well, a must in your oily arsenal, right?

I would prepare a diluted blend with tea tree for insect bites or just bring the bottle to whiff when feeling stressed (crowded airports, hello!), or drop some on a tissue (all hotels would have one, right?) and put on the bedside for a relaxing aromatic ambiance.

Plus, it’s good for anxiety, headaches, and also for minor muscular aches and pains. It’s also a good balancer when creating your blend.

Eucalyptus: The Breath of Fresh Air

Feeling a bit stuffy?

Eucalyptus oil is my all-reliable oily best friend. It’s great for clearing congestion and safe for kids (with the right dilution), too! You can do steam inhalation by just putting one drop in a bowl of hot water. Plus, it’s a good mental pick-me-upper, as well.

Travel Smart with Aromatherapy

With these essential oils, you can turn travel trials into trivial matters. I would always carry with me these bottles wherever I go, my premade inhalers, plus a 30mL carrier oil just in case.

I hope this was something helpful for you.

Safe travels!
